IS YOUR DATA UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?
GEO-CODING VS. DDTI DATA COLLECTION.
Interpolation or “Geocoding” is a technique that uses address ranges to mathematically guess or estimate an address location. For example, house number 7050 is assumed to be in the precise middle of the address range 7000-7100. Logical, yes. Accurate, no. The real world is rarely that perfect. On rural stretches of road, for instance, there are often large, unequal gaps between structures.
Geocoding, while still considered an “accepted norm” for mapping, can be off its mark by a serious margin in urban and suburban areas, too – especially in any scenario that involves:
- Mobile Home Parks
- Assisted Living Communities
And with roughly 25% of all housing in the U.S. being classified as multi-unit structures, that’s a lot of housing that cannot be precisely plotted using geocoding along street centerlines alone.
It’s exact address locations that get us where we need to be. Every time. The first time. That’s where DDTi Data Collection comes in.
DDTi’s Data Collection is the most thorough, accurate and reliable compilation method available because our GIS professionals actually drive every public and private road in your jurisdiction to ensure each address point is recorded with precision. This process is called field verification and it’s the best possible foundation upon which to build accurate maps.
PRECISE, POINT-BASED COLLECTION
We utilize innovative mobile mapping technology, marrying three navigation technologies with a revolutionary voice recording system, to map a jurisdiction with spatially accurate, three-dimensional results. DDTi’s field-verified data is accurate to +/- 1 meter and conforms to National Emergency Number Association (NENA) standards (02-014). No one can capture field verified data faster and more efficiently than DDTi.
It’s because of this unique, innovative process and precision that you can expect your field-verified map to locate an exact address point in more than 99% of all 9-1-1 calls. Clearly we won’t settle for just getting you close. Neither should you.
BEYOND BASIC ADDRESS DATA
Since our process is so thorough and exhaustive, it yields much more than addressing data for all residential and commercial structures. During field verification, DDTi also records the locations of:
- Fire hydrants
- Flashing signals and associated control types
- Speed limit signs and their value
- Milepost signs and their milepost value
- Railroad crossings and associated control types
- Traffic signals
- Stop signs and yield signs
- School zones
- Overpasses and underpasses
- Visible bridges and culverts
- Water towers, cell towers, electric substations, and other utility structures
ENHANCED LINEAR REFERENCE
At DDTi, we go the extra mile to deliver data that can be used in a variety of ways. Calculating three-dimensional mileage using routes and mileposts, for example, helps identify high-hazard locations along roadways. This can translate into increased roadway safety funding opportunities that benefit 9-1-1, public safety, departments of transportation, and engineers. Our datasets can also aid government agencies in jumpstarting asset inventory management and tax collections.
Road network attributes like one-way restrictions and speed limits can affect routing, maximizing efficiency in finding a destination — and recalculating routes based on factors such as road closures and turn restrictions.
Moreover, those in the field won’t be surprised by anything unexpected since DDTi’s field verification uncovers and carefully notes all address anomalies and road obstructions that could otherwise slow first responders.
Imagine being able to focus fully on helping those in an emergency situation rather than trying to figure out how to get there. That’s what DDTi’s level of accuracy can do for you.
Despite the intricate detail work involved in our Data Collection, our teams generally complete the field verification process for a full turnover of your data in as little as three months.* This includes all municipalities, private developments and other border areas.
We know time is money. We also know seconds count.
